Project Overview
The Hawaii Tourism Infographic presents an infographic that explores both the positive and negative impacts of tourism in Hawaiʻi. Tourism plays a major role in the state’s economy, generating billions of dollars annually and supporting over 200,000 jobs statewide. The infographic highlights key benefits such as job creation, funding for public infrastructure and services, and the support of local businesses and farmers markets. These advantages show how tourism contributes to Hawaiʻi’s economic stability and community wellbeing.
However, the project also examines the downsides of heavy tourism, including environmental degradation, increased cost of living, and strain on natural resources and local communities. Through a balanced visual layout, clear data points, and icons representing each factor, the infographic encourages viewers to think critically about sustainable tourism and the need to balance economic growth with cultural and environmental preservation.
Overall, this project aims to educate the public on tourism’s dual impact in Hawaiʻi and promote awareness of responsible travel practices that protect the islands’ people and natural beauty for future generations.
